Hello! My name is Pranav Subramanian, and I am a multidisciplinary designer in the early stages of my career with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and ~3 years of professional experience ranging from nonprofit startups to international design firms.

I believe that good design can build upon the existing contextual fabric of our world to create solutions that draw inspiration from the past while reimagining the future. I strive to create work that performs beyond the base demand for a cohesive, user-centered experience in order to connect to larger struggles for social equity and ecological survival.

My introduction to the world of design was through trial and error. In my first semester of architecture school when design was taught through the lens of contemporary art, I found myself underperforming in class because of my unfamiliarity with the medium. It wasn't until my rehearsals as the principal oboist in the UT University Orchestra that I made the connection: I had been working with balance, symmetry, proportion, rhythm, scale, and other principles of design throughout my entire life, I was just used to speaking the language of music rather than art. Drawing this parallel led to exponential improvement in my architecture classes, eventually resulting in employment at SOM, an international firm known for large-scale projects like the Burj Khalifa, New World Trade Center, and Willis Tower. I now attribute my success as a designer to my experience at the intersection of architecture and music and strive to maintain this open-minded approach to multidisciplinary design innovation throughout my career and lifestyle.
